Scamper was lost, but now she's back

I'm back !!!

I regret leaving this blog two years ago.. my bb girl is almost three years old come January. I got busy with work and with hubby's blogs. Now, I'm back to school.. My daughter is also going to school. Some friends were telling me that it is too early my daughter to go to school and that she has to enjoy playing, sleeping etc.. It may be true to some kids, but I have observed that my daughter has no problems going to school at an early age. The reason that I enrolled her to nursery is because we want her to socialize with other children. I only have one child and she has nobody around her to play with and besides, her class won't consume her whole day. It's only two hours. She now has a new nanny btw, another story.. At first, my daughter won't let her "ate" go out during class, but to my surprise, just this month, she was all by herself during class. Her ate just stays outside the classroom waiting for her dismissal. We, parents, are very happy that my daughter has learned independence. and guess what she goes out her room without leaving anything, even a pencil, or a crayon or a peace of paper. She keeps her things in order. This makes me feel that sending her to school is worth it. Sometimes, when she sees me reading, she would beg me to help her study her lessons and I would love to assist her.

Time runs fast and how I wish my daughter would remain my bb girl forever... yep, impossible I know..

Anyway, I will try to find time to keep my blog updated amidst my busy schedule.. Sharing tips and experiences is my pleasure!

How to bathe an infant

The first time I had an infant in my arms was when I gave birth to my baby. Her weight was normal as a newborn, but to held one small humanbeing in my arms was one undescribable feeling. I bet I looked awkward carrying her, but there is always a first time, right?
Sometime on february, my nanny asked for a day-off. As a mother herself, I was watching her closely every little thing she did to my baby, which includeds feeding, bathing, etc. On the day before she went home, I searched videos in youtube on how to bathe an infant. I learned that there are various way and it really depends on what best suits for you and your child.
The day finally arrived. I was preparing that day as if I was about to take an exam. I prepared her all her things, like clean clothes, towel, baby bath lactacyd, small bath tub, a babysize sponge, sponge, and water
  • I prepared half a pail of lukewarm water.
  • I laid my baby on the babysize sponge. I started pouring water on her body excluding the head.
  • I lathered lactacyd on her body, especially the neck, armpits, between the fingers, and toes, legs, and arms of course. You can use a sponge or your hands. I poured water again.
  • I lifted my baby and supported her chest with my left hand. I poured water on her head. Using my hand, I wiped off excess water on her face so she could breath easily.
  • I lathered lactacyd on her back and head. To finish, I rinsed her with water.
  • I cleaned her earlobes and navel, and checked for boggers. I clothed her.
Note: Do it fast. An infant's body does not need a lot of cleaning. I used lukewarm water because an infant's body cannot tolerate a cold temperature. They get cold when their naked bodies are wet.
My way may not be applicable to your baby.
Good luck and enjoy!

just one of the challenges

My baby girl is now on her third month. She gained weight of course, courtesy of Enfalac A+ and thanks to daddy's milk subsidy, got bigger arms and legs, and a louder cry. It was really a struggle on the first two months having to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to feed her and put her down to sleep. A baby's cry signals a lot. She is either of the following: hungry, sleepy, sick, in mood of tantrums, and calls for a nappy change. As a mother, you must be watchful of these needs else, you will upset your baby and frustrate yourself.
I have been reading different articles on how to take care of an infant from bathing her to feeding to putting her down to sleep. There are a lot of ways and it is up to me to try all until I find the one that will work for all of us.
Now here comes the challenge. I work from 4am to 12:30pm, so I hired a nanny to look after my baby when I am not around. I'm just blessed to have a nanny like her who treats my child as her own. Most of the times, she can pacify my baby more than I do. There are also times when my baby sleeps with her. I have difficulty putting my baby to sleep because I have to rock, sing and dance. It is a routine when we try to put her down to sleep. My baby is used to this routine. Well, I could say that it works! I couldn't blame my nanny because that's how the traditional Filipino mothers do. In other countries they have the cry out loud technique wherein the baby is left crying for about five minutes before approaching her to calm her down and help her fall asleep again. This is one way of teaching the child to sleep on her own. They called it the ferberized child. In my case, I have a hard time doing it my own way because my nanny does her own way too. I respect that. I believe that consistency is a must in every thing taught to a child. It is just that she is binded by myths in the boondocks, where she grew up, so it seemed to me that she is not that open to try new things. I don't want her to feel bad either. After all, I'm the mother and the ball will always be in my court.
This is just one of the challenges I have been experiencing. There are a lot of things to learn and discover. I am not afraid to invent or improvise methods on every how to. With the advent of the internet, learning has never been this easy and tips are always readily available.
